Educational Background

Phil began his academic journey in 2001 at age 34, attending York University's Atkinson College Specialized Honours Psychology program. His dedication to understanding human behavior and conflict resolution led him to pursue additional training in Alternative Dispute Resolution in 2004.

While studying psychology, Phil was introduced to Therapeutic Family Mediation (TFM), which sparked his passion for mediation. He immediately contacted Dr. Michael Benjamin Ph.D, co-developer of TFM, beginning a mentorship that would shape his entire career.

Professional Achievements

Graduating with Exceptional standing from York University's ADR program, Phil earned his Specialized Honours Psychology BA and Master's in Counseling Psychology. In 2013, he achieved his Chartered Mediators (C.Med) designation from ADR Canada (Ontario) - the highest designation in the mediation field.

That same year, ADR Chambers (a division of Stitt Feld Handy Law Group) contracted Phil to help mediate the Financial Securities Commission of Ontario (FSCO) motor vehicle accident cases backlog, where he successfully mediated hundreds of cases.

Current Practice

As a proud member of both ADRIO (ADR Institute of Ontario) and ADRIC (ADR Institute of Canada), Phil currently works with various ADR rosters including Ontario Health. He handles insurance and family cases referred by prominent Ontario Family Law firms, bringing his extensive experience to each unique situation.

His mediation services span Small Claims, Family, Workplace, and Insurance matters. Recent successes include settling complex workplace disputes, family conflicts, and wrongful dismissal mediations.

Teaching & Speaking

Phil has taught Alternative Dispute Resolution at Herzing College and served as a part-time Professor Instructor of Psychology at Durham College. His expertise is regularly sought after for lectures, workshops, and educational sessions.

He has presented to colleges and law firms including the Filion Wakely Thorup Angeletti Law Group, sharing his knowledge of various Alternative Dispute Resolution models.
